Getting Here

Western Arctic by Road

Getting to the Western Arctic is an experience in itself. As thousands of road trippers discover each year, driving the Dempster is a trip to remember. Starting near Dawson City, Yukon, this is Canada's northernmost highway, undulating 740 kilometres through the grizzly-prowled high country of the Richardson Range, then descending into the expansive Mackenzie River Delta. For details see the Dempster section.
